Camera Work and Editing

Camera work:

In many music videos the close up predominates. This is because of a number of things such as, the size of the screen, to create a sense of intimacy for the viewer (the notion of looking), emphasises half of the commodity on sale (not just the song, but the artist, and particularly the voice).
To try and incorporate this into my video I will use lots of close ups of the VW car from lots of different angles E.g. as the band member walks out of the door the car is close up and the feet out of focus.

(on the left are examples of close ups used in actually music videos: Beyonce – ‘Single Ladies’ / Christina Aguilera – ‘Fighter’ )

Editing:

The imovie symbol
We will be using iMovie for all the editing of our video.
The fast cut montage predominates the editing this is because the images are impossible to gasp on first, this ensures multiple viewings. However a slower pace and gentler transitions can and establish the mood. In my video I must edit the visuals to match the music and lyrics, as the song has a very strong beat, so all the pictures for the stop frame will change on the beat. Digital effects I may consider using are, spilt screens, colourisation and enhancing colour. I will also make sure that during my editing stage I check that the lighting is the best it can be.
